🤱 Postnatal Blog: Leaking After Birth — You Are Not Alone
Many women still experience leaking long after pregnancy. Sometimes it shows up when running, sneezing, or laughing. And it can feel frustrating — especially if you’ve already tried to address it.
One of my members shared her story:
“Even after seeing two different pelvic health physios since having my daughter almost 2 years ago, I was still unaware that just by adding stretching and breathing into my daily routine could be so life changing.”
What made the difference for her wasn’t more “squeezing” but learning how to let go. After birth, the pelvic floor often becomes protective and tight — even when it feels weak. Without restoring length and proper breath coordination, strengthening alone won’t solve the problem.
That’s why in AlignBirth’s First 6 Weeks Postnatal Programme, we begin with gentle breathing and pelvic floor release before layering in strength. Functional recovery isn’t about doing more, it’s about restoring balance so your tissues can both support and respond.
Try this (Postnatal):
Lie on your back with your knees bent, feet flat. Place one hand on your ribs and the other on your lower belly. Inhale through your nose, feeling your ribs expand and your pelvic floor gently release. Exhale with a soft sigh, letting your body relax. Practice this daily before progressing to strengthening work — it sets the foundation for a pelvic floor that’s truly functional.
You deserve to move, laugh, run, and live without worrying about leaking. Recovery takes time, but with the right support, change is possible.
✨ Gentle reminder: you’re not alone in this journey. If you’re experiencing leaking, pain, or worry — reach out. I’m here to support you every step of the way.
I’m with you. You’re not alone.
